P. D. Hinduja Hospital, Khar, had organized a CPD webinar for Family Physicians on 22nd January, 2022, in the specialty of Internal Medicine & Critical Care.
Dr.Bharesh Dedhia, Consultant, Critical Care at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Khar, spoke on the topic, "Hypertensive Emergencies". He gave a detailed insight on the how the Blood Pressure Category is classified. He stated that about 1- 3 % of patients with hypertension will have a hypertensive emergency during their lifetime.
The next speaker was Dr.Rommel Idnani, Consultant, Internal Medicine, at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Khar. He spoke on "Hypertension Management with co-morbidities". Dr.Idnani stated that hypertension is one of the leading risk factors for global mortality.
He shared details on treatment recommendations that include lifestyle changes and medications at different BP levels. He also threw light on the recommendations for treatment of hypertension in pregnancy.
The last speaker of the day was Dr.Piyush Jain, Consultant, Internal Medicine, at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Khar, who spoke on the topic, "Approach to young hypertensive patients". He highlighted the risk factors for hypertension in young and alos spoke on White Coat Hypertension and Masked Hypertension. Dr. Piyush also explained the importance of Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM).
Interaction and doubts resolution was facilitated after each of the panelists spoke.
