Anurag Basu felicitates staff nurse Sister Rita Patel

A special mention went out to the courage shown by staff nurse Sister Rita Patel who donated her husband's organs after his sudden demise due to a brain stroke earlier this month. Sister Rita and her family were felicitated.

Chief Guest Anurag Basu said, "It takes courage to part one's self just to make sure the other person survives. I have personally undergone a lot of pain during my treatment of cancer and I can empathise with all present here."

Dr. Alan Almeida, Head of Nephrology, Hinduja Hospital spoke about the importance of organ donation and how donors have become a torchbearer to society. "It is important to organise such function to spread awareness about organ donation. There are people who are still skeptical to come forward for such a good cause and this programme is to appreciate those who have in spite of all societal pressure," he said.
